Dear friends,
I know there is a lot happening in the world right now. A lot of people are in need, and there are a lot of important issues to support. It can be overwhelming.
At the same time, there are too many young people hurting in our city. Too many minors incarcerated in Los Angeles county themselves victims of abuse and trauma. For our part, The Unusual Suspects are working harder than ever to make more voices heard and make sure more young people have the opportunity to make their world better. I see everyday the impact we have on individual lives and it keeps me going.
Along with the Arts for Incarcerated Youth Network, we are changing the way Los Angeles approaches juvenile incarceration and thanks to all that have contributed already, we only need $2200 more to fully fund our program at Campus Kilpatrick!
Our theatre programs are proven to build confidence and bring hope to kids desperately in need of both. We are mentoring incarcerated youth on how to be part of a classroom, a workplace, a family, a community. We are teaching them how to communicate and how to collaborate to face the challenges life brings. The time spent with US instills in our youth why it’s important to work hard in other areas of life, because the rewards of human relationships are everything.
This campaign ends soon so I promise this is my last email about it but we need your support today! $25, $50, $100 – every dollar makes a difference.
On behalf of the young men at Campus Kilpatrick, thank you!
