Ways To Give

There are many ways that you can inspire youth through the arts. The Unusual Suspects depends on your generous donations to continue our in-depth theatre workshops at sites throughout Los Angeles County. We thank you for any contribution you are able to give. All contributions are tax deductible.

Individual Sponsorships and Annual Gifts
By sponsoring The Unusual Suspects’ workshop costs, you will provide arts education, afterschool programming and violence prevention training to some of Los Angeles County’s most at-risk youth. Your donation will go where it’s most needed.

• $25 Brings the seed of hope to a youth by contributing to our $25 for $25,000 Campaign
• $50 Helps youth set and achieve academic goals by providing workshop materials
• $100 Instills hope by sponsoring the awards ceremony at the culmination of the program
• $250 Builds confidence by sponsoring one youth in our core 12-week theatre residency
• $500 Transforms lives by providing the costumes and sets for one youth performance
• $1000 Helps US meet the increased demand for our program by providing matching funds to partner sites
• $1,500 Challenges youth to become productive members of society by sponsoring an alumni event
• $2,500 Inspires youth to see beyond their differences by sponsoring a performance of youth’s original work
• $5,000 Provides mentoring and guidance to at-risk youth by sponsoring an entire 10-week workshop (either playwriting or performance)
• Other (no amount is too large or too small) Empowers youth to make life affirming choices

Matching Gift
Many companies match their employees’ charitable contributions. When you donate to The Unusual Suspects, contact your Human Resources Department and fill out the matching gifts form. You will double the amount of your donation and help even more youth in Los Angeles County!

Honor or Memorial Gift
An honor or memorial gift is a great way to serve needy children throughout Los Angeles and recognize someone special at the same time. You can make a memorial gift when a loved one passes, or give someone the “gift” of helping at-risk youth through the arts for birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries, to name a few occasions.

Planned Gift

Leave your legacy by making a bequest to The Unusual Suspects in your will or living trust. All contributions are tax deductible. Please contact the Development Director for more information.

Events
Support our annual spring gala by purchasing a table, donating an item to our silent auction, sponsoring the event through your business, or buying individual tickets! Title sponsorship is also available.

Corporate Donations
There are many opportunities for a corporation to support The Unusual Suspects’ work with at-risk youth in the community. Companies can sponsor our annual gala, underwrite youth performances, provide matching gifts for employee contributions, or provide in-kind services and supplies.

Foundation Giving
The Unusual Suspects relies on foundation donations, in part, to fund our theatre workshops. Our foundation supporters include the Herb Alpert Foundation, the Bancroft Family Foundation and the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation.

In-Kind Donations
Support The Unusual Suspects by providing the supplies and equipment needed to maintain the program.

Other Ways to Help
Volunteer To Be An Audience Member: The Unusual Suspects relies on members of the community to attend our public performances. We need members of the community to show their support for our youth. Audiences are an integral part of the experience for the youth. When they see friends and family and people they don’t even know there for them, they experience, for what is to many, the first sense of accomplishment and positive social reinforcement that they have ever had. Please volunteer 2-3 hours of your day and be a part of this key, transformational part of The Unusual Suspects experience by attending a youth performance. Spread the word to friends and family and show our youth the community cares and is willing to support them in their endeavors!
